Our People
Launch Chapel Hill depends on many amazing people: our Leadership Team, Launch Ambassadors, Alumni, Board of Directors, Advisory Board—and countless other mentors, coaches, workshop facilitators, and members of the broader community too numerous to count. Thank you!
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
— Margaret Mead

Tim Flood is an Associate Professor of Management Communication at the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School (since 2004) and has been with Launch Chapel Hill since our founding in 2013.
Tim’s startup journey began with the lemonade stands and lawn mowing, and really took two great turns: first, when he worked as a solutions consultant at Vanguard Cellular Systems (now part of AT&T Wireless)—back when cell phone companies were the hottest startups—and, second, when he was lucky enough to connect with the Launch Box (soon the Triangle Startup Factory) in the then-fledgling American Underground.
Tim has been very fortunate to work--as a consultant, advisor, pitch coach and critic, vocal supporter and networker--with Fortune 500 companies, startups, small and medium businesses, and teams who have come through Launch Chapel Hill, and across the many-layered entrepreneurship ecosystem coming out of the B-School, Innovate Carolina and across the UNC campus, NC and the southeast.Tim received his bachelor’s degree from U Maryland @ College Park, his master’s from Texas A&M @ College Station, and his PhD from the University of North Carolina @ Greensboro.

Alex came on board as we returned to in-person operations, and he has done amazing things to restore and reinvigorate the physical space and every day experience of our thriving Launch Chapel Hill community.
Concurrent with his work at Launch, Alex also teaches online electronics classes through Nash Community College, runs a business with his dad that makes trainers to aid for basic electricity classes, and has experience as a web developer. “I really enjoy the beauty of a well-written code that flows like a good book”
And Alex still manages to find some free time: a bit of an amateur chef (who enjoys the process of making the food as much as eating the final result) who enjoys going to the gym, and he’s been getting into board games recently
